EDA Industries S.p.A. (“EDA”), a leading Italian company on Burn-in & Test Equipment, and ChipTest Engineering Private Limited (“ChipTest”), an experienced Indian company in Test & Engineering Service, are pleased to announce a Joint Venture agreement to enhance their presence in India, where Semiconductor market and business opportunities are expanding very fast.
This new partnership comes at a crucial time, as India is committed to relevant investments in the Semiconductor fields, positioning the country as a key player in the global supply chain. With their complementary and consolidated strengths in the Semiconductor market, EDA and ChipTest will leverage their cutting-edge technologies and meaningful industry expertise to provide innovative solutions and services to meet the growing requests in India and beyond.
In this scenario, EDA and ChipTest agree, as a first step, to set up a Burn-in and Reliability Test Laboratory in India to support the increasing demand in the country, mainly for SiC and GaN technologies, where EDA has a leadership position.
As part of this partnership, ChipTest will introduce to its customers located in India the products of EDA, acting as a local Agent. Meanwhile, EDA will support ChipTest to get more business in Europe. Finally, EDA will involve ChipTest as a partner to increase actual capacity for application activities.
Furthermore, this joint venture significantly enhances EDA’s position as a global supplier, thanks to ChipTest’s know-how in ATE system applications that is fully complementary with EDA’s expertise in Burn-in and Testing.
EDA, founded in 1993 in Italy and then expanded in Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, China, and Morocco, is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-volume production Burn-in & Test Equipment for the Semiconductor industry, especially for Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN).
ChipTest, established in 2005 and having its principal place of business in Chennai, India, is an IC test and automation company, providing cost-effective test engineering solutions, PCB design and fabrication, and a wide range of industrial automation products.
Mr. Fortunato Palella, Founder of EDA, affirms: «We are very excited to enter this new joint venture in India, which confirms our commitment to innovation, excellence and global service in the Semiconductor market. We believe that this partnership with ChipTest will strengthen EDA’s capabilities across both Back-End and Front-End Testing, while also reinforcing its role not only as Equipment manufacturer, but also as turnkey service provider».
Mr. M. Sankara Subramanian, CEO of ChipTest, says: «This partnership represents a great opportunity to highlight both companies’ significant expertise in the industry. Thanks to EDA collaboration, we will combine our skills to develop cutting-edge solutions and offer high-quality service that will address the growing requirements of our customers. Moreover, we are convinced that this joint venture will enable us to better face future challenges, with the aim of achieving even more ambitious milestones in the next years».
